Jim showed an early interest in renewable energy, surprising his first grade teacher with a story about people getting energy from an active volcano. As a freshman in college, he took an environmental biology class from a professor with a self-sustaining farm, making him more aware of the delicate balance between humans and nature. Jim's interest was furthered when he studied in Germany and witnessed a heightened system of recycling and prevelance of public transportation. Studying German increased his appreciation for all languages (including HTML), an exploration continuing to this day. He graduated from St. Cloud State University with a degree in Mass Communications, and minors in Psychology and German.
