Sundays Energy is involved in delivering solar hot water systems that reduce our region’s dependence on fossil fuels and other unstable, polluting energy sources. Whether you want to heat your home and water with the force of the sun, or participate as an investor in a larger-scale project, Sundays Energy is excited to work with you.
Why Solar?
Understanding the Problem:
- Residential natural gas prices are on the rise, with a 5.1 increase in 2005. And as domestic supplies decline, there is an increasing dependency on foreign natural gas sources. (Source: U.S. Energy Information Administration)
- Greenhouse gases, like carbon dioxide, are increasing. Fossil fuels burned to run cars and trucks, heat homes and businesses, and produce electricity are responsible for about 98% of U.S. carbon dioxide emissions, 24% of methane emissions, and 18% of nitrous oxide emissions.

Solar Potential:
- The sun is a virtually untapped resource of nearly infinite potential.
- Solar power has become of increasing interest as the environmental costs and limited supply of fossil fuels are realized.
- Minnesota has more solar potential than Houston, Texas and nearly as much as Miami, Florida.
Solar Hot Water Systems
Sundays Energy Community Company desires to put assets back into your community through the installation of solar hot water systems in residential and commercial settings. Imagine your local health club swimming pools being heated by solar energy! Or a neighborhood laundromat -- where 90% of the energy used is for heating water -- becoming energy independent with a solar hot water installation. We want you to be a part of the movement to create self-sufficient communities, for your benefit as a citizen, homeowner, and investor.
What Sundays Energy Offers:
- Sundays Energy contracts to install solar thermal systems on public and private facilities in the region.
- Sundays Energy funds the community installation, then recoups its investment by billing the facility for the cost of energy used based on the market price for that energy.
You Benefit:
- The life of one solar hot water system can offset over 20 tons of greenhouse gases and other pollutants
- You will experience a reduction in the costs of your monthly energy bills. A solar hot water system can provide 40 - 80% of your hot water needs for the year and save you a minimum of $400 on average annually. It also reduces your dependence on rising natural gas prices - enjoy one steady monthly energy bill.
- A new federal tax credit returns 30% of the installation costs of a solar hot water system for both residential and commercial, with a $2000 cap on residential systems (no cap on commercial).
- An installed system will increase the equity of your home or business.
- You will make a profit! Receive a positive monthly cash flow once the payback threshold is reached.
Steps To Owning Solar Hot Water:
- Have a SECC professional complete a site evaluation of your home or business to determine the best strategy for your system.
- SECC will assist you in applying for the many subsidies available that may lower the cost of your system. Additionally, we will evaluate the proposed total cost before you contract.
- Sign the installation agreement and set up an installation date with SECC.
- Enjoy the benefits of your system, as either an investor or on-site owner!
